THANKSGIVEN DAY
There are a lot of things to thank for; here
in this Country, that has being a gracious
Host to a lot of people with different
ethnic backgrounds and customs.
We have all come here from somewhere,
it does not matter why we came.
We saw a diffent life than the one we had,
we liked what we saw and staid to become
part of this melting pot.
First of all; is this reverence to the
Family, not that we did not have one,
that holds the key that distills love
and the need to gather together this
day around a festive dinner table.
This reunion of loved ones, who come
back home for this Holiday, no matter
where they had been, is strong and
rejuvenates the feelings of want, love
for each other and updates what might
have faded a little, being away.
Members of this Family, who went
away for some reason or another are
all looking forward with eager
anticipation for this reunion.
A couple of days before Thanksgiven day,
you notice everybody and the whole
Country energized.
The people are buying stuff, arranging
for transport and accomodations
for their trip back home.
We are all like the migratory birds that
fly miles, sometimes in hard conditions,
to come back to their nests.
It is November again and you see the
stores are all dressed up with their
festive decorations and everybody is
trying to help everyone else to make
this reunion as pleasant and comfortable
as possible.
The people work hard all year round
and when November comes you see
the change. They are all eagerly
looking forward to gather around
the festive dinner table with their
loved ones.
So, we give thanks to God who sent
those Turkies to the Pilgrims to save
them from starvation and who created
this tradition for us to give thanks to
God for all that this Country has given
us by opening its doors and welcoming
us with opened arms.
So I, who came from somewhere, wish
all of you in this Country and the ones
overseas fighting for Democracy;
Happy Thankgiven Day, enjoy
you Family or Friends if you do not
have a family.
Enjoy your Turkey Dinner and think
of the Pilgrims who made this
tradition possible by having faith
in God.
